Meredith Vieira to replace Katie Couric?

supposedly Meredith Vieira will leave The View and replace Katie Couric. ..(I don't think this is final yet.)


NBC has nearly concluded an agreement with Meredith Vieira of ABC to replace Ms. Couric as co-host of the "Today" morning show.

Under the terms of the deal, which was expected to be resolved by week's end, Ms. Vieira would sign a four-year contract worth at least $10 million a year and would take up her morning assignment on NBC just after Labor Day, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the conversations were continuing.


I think she wanted to get away. . .if you missed the recent "cat fight" between Star Jones and Joy Behar. . .


I saw the clip (after the fact on a news program). . .Star Jones called into the show (she is out for a "boob lift"). . .and was talking a long time. . .Joy wrote a note on a piece of paper that she showed to Meredith and throughout the conversation Joy had a look on her face. . .then Star called Joy the "B" word. . .

Ick. I don't even watch the Today show all that much but they should have gone with Campbell Brown or Ann Curry. I can't stand Meredith Viera.

I can't stand Katie Couric. She should be hosting The View. I won't watch anything she has anything to do with. Meredith should have gotten the new job.

I must have seen "Meredith Vieira" and read Mike Vanderjagt, and misread Katie Couric as "Keon Clark."

...back to the topic. I'm with 'dmann', Campbell Brown would be great. If Viera gets the job, she should pay several visits to Katie's plastic surgeon (he is very good!).

Amen on that. I can't believe this is a story at all, and if Katie Couric has had plastic surgery I think she should be suing the surgeon. But I guess there's only so much you can do with that pie face.

Campbell Brown seems to be trying to be a serious reporter. That's just my observation.

I like Meredith a lot.

But she won't be the same girl on the Today show. On the view she is quite saucy and irreverent, and I like that big time.

I don't care much for Katie, but she should easily do as well as Dan, if not much better. The Pomposity Factor will be much lower.

It was said that Meredith *would* leave the show if the NBC deal went through.

And I can't stand Star "I'm a lawyer" Jones. I'd sooner see her replaced by Erckle.
