Check out the teeth! (This is a link to an AppleSwitcher thread which sports a bandwidth warning) http://www.appleswitcher.com/viewtopic.php?t=24438&sid=1e5926278b00848de72f71283ad58a1b

Have you seen the video on YouTube of the snake that ate a hippo then coughs it back up? That is gross and damn impressive at the same time.

aww, poor snake.
His teeth look pretty proportionate. Snakes use their needle-like teeth to "walk" prey items down their throats. They use them solely for making sure they've got a firm grip on their prey. Notice how they're angled towards the back of the mouth? You wanna see some really big snake teeth though? These ones are definitely fangs! ![]() Those are the fangs of a gaboon viper. Their fangs can be 2" long. Needless to say, their fangs are the longest of any venomous snake. Here's the rest of the info on gaboons: http://www.photovault.com/Link/Animals/R...Viper.html

ztirffritz, again...poor snake! Regurging is very hard on snakes & can even kill them. When snakes are stressed or ill, they will often do what he did. Given that he was being harassed by people, I'm not surprised he upchucked.
What I don't get is...what is an anaconda doing with a hippo (wrong continent)? Unless, it was at a zoo. But, my guess is that it threw up a capybara, not a hippo. Look at the feet for hints & then compare the animal's feet with these: capybara - http://torque.oncloud8.com/archives/imag...yberas.jpg hippo - http://www.jamesbarry.com/Hippo%20Underw...0-2002.jpg (sorry to burst everyone's bubble) Tales of giant snakes eating really big things are almost always exaggerated.

I like the one where the python tried to eat a gator in Florida and exploded.

Alligator vs. Python, no winners.

O.K. you snake experts.....you know who you are; is that an Anaconda? If so what is it doing in the dessert? I thought they lived in around and in water like swamps and lakes.

macaroo, I'm not a snake expert - just someone who likes snakes a lot. In all honesty, the people who proclaim themselves as snake experts are usually not.
![]() Anyhoo, here's the snopes on the pics: http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/fencesnake.asp It's a rock python (native to Africa).

I like snakes...but I don't want to personally meet one that can eat that much!

See, I like snakes, but... this just freaks me out... sorry Steph.
All I'll say is, the largest frog is still not large enough to do that kind of damage. ;-) ![]() (That's the Goliath frog, Conraua species, on the left; and a reed frog, Hyperolius species, on the right.) |
