Has anyone ever tried a "hop tea"? I see you can get tea packets and also hop soap which sounds interesting.

Hops are a known soporific. In other words, they help you sleep. They do make a great tea, I've tried it. Somewhat bitter, but I've always liked the flavor of hops, like jimbrady...
