Freezing fruit: Can you freeze watermelon? How do I prep peaches?
#1
I have some leftover fruit from last Saturday's roof BBQ. Mostly watermelon still on the rind and a couple of peaches are starting to go bad. Is it okay to freeze watermelon? I'm sure it is, don't people make pops out of them or something? Or I could just use it for smoothies later on. If I'm going to freeze peaches, do I need to skin them beforehand or are they fine already like that?

Thanks kids.

Since watermelon is mostly water, I'm pretty sure that freezing and thawing it would yield watermelon mush marinating in watermelon juice. :-)

Peel the peaches, and cut them up. Pop them in a freezer bag and they are good to go.

If you slice the peaches, dip the slices in some lemon juice, so they don't brown.

Scthanks everyone. I wasn't sure if I had to put the peaches in sugar water or something, but I guess that's just for prepping when making a pie? I also have some cherries I don't want expiring on me. For a brief moment last night, I considered making a cherry peach pie...maybe.

Simplify things and make a cherry peach cobbler. Yum!

Go ahead and cut the watermelon up, freeze it, and then make smoothies or vodka coolers with it.

I will freeze any fruit because I drink smoothies. I just cut it up and put it on a paper plate and once frozen I put it into freezer bags. If appearance is important then you can do the lemon juice thing, but most frozen fruit is going to only be good for putting in something. Ripe, cling-stone peaches are going to be mush by the time you get them sectioned and peeled so I would handle them as little as possible.

the best way to Freeze fruits is. . .

. . .to have the male in question go out in his skivies in "Baby, it's cold outside" weather for about 20-30 minutes. . .then repeat. . .
