I want it.
Last month Apple Store had refurbs for $1099 +tax which for me works out to about $1182.
Best price new, today, is from B&H photo, no tax, free shipping for $1259. $77 more.
Any ideas on when Apple might have more refurbs available? Any concerns with buying a refurb Cinema Display? I figure I'll go to the local Apple store and see what they can do.
(I know, Dell cheaper. Don't want it, not getting one.)

Love my 23". Refurbs get the same warranty/AppleCare as new ones.
I would likely buy a Dell though just on the price.
Why not a Dell? Just curious...
I haven't odered anything from B&H in over 10 years. Bought 2 cameras setups from them with no problems back in the day.

have they fixed the "pink cast" common to the 23" displays?
(happy owner of 3 dell 2001FPs, and 1 2005FP and 1 2405FP =)

Like my Dell 24".
For $1,175.30 I got the 2405FPW, a Dimension 9150 w/Pentium D 830 Dual Core 3Ghz. 1 gig ram. Radeon X300 w/128mb. 1 DVD-Rom Drive & 1 DVD-RW Drive.

I'm not buying a Dell either. Can't fit a 3rd one on my desk.

Well it's like this: The Dell's are ugly. I don't like they way they look, particularly the stand. I don't wish to spend $800+ on something I don't want to see.
I know, I know, it's only a display and it's the picture that counts. But by that logic, why paint your home a pleasing color? Why decorate your walls with art? After all, a home is only a machine to live in. Any shelter should do, correct?
Also, nobody sells Dell displays locally. I can't lay my eyes on one. My friend has a 2005 which I looked at. The stand was ugly, the rest was ok. I've been able to study the Apple at three different stores locally.
As for the pinkish cast, yes - apparently that has been addressed. I calibrated all three displays I looked at and could see that the picture quality and viewing angle will suit me, despite the less than optimal lighting in the stores. Since I can't inspect a 2405, I can't confirm what I've read about the Apple having a larger viewing angle and better rendition of grey tones.
I was a little surprised tha B&H turned out to be the cheapest, but they have a very good reputation as a seller so I'd have no problem purchasing from them.

you know -- a lot of peeps thought the super connie was really ugly too =)
the stand allows tilting, rotating, raising and has a built in USB 2 hub + a card reader built into the bezel
i never see my stand, its covered in paper...=)

Ah the Super Connie - never heard of anyone who thought it was ugly but you make a good point - it's all in the eyes of the beholder (except for General Motors vehicles)

Go new. There was a reason the refurb became a rerurb.
I love my 23" last generation ADC Cinema Display. Looks nice sitting next to my slow (450 MHz G4) Cube with 32 MB GeForce2 MX video card. Works great, too. I had a choice to stay with a 17" ADC LCD and get a faster Mac or buy the 23" and stay with the Cube. I'll take a bigger display over a faster computer any day.
