Seagate 400GB hard drive - China or Singapore?
#1
Any difference in quality, etc. between the two manufacturing sites?

Gut reaction is, if I had a choice, Singapore.

That would be my reaction as well, but thought I would ask if there was any known issues with either site.

There was the well known IBM Deskstar GXP60 issue with drives from one plant having an almost 50% failure rate, but the other plant was almost perfect. (Hungary and malaysia I believe) They were cranking them out because demand was so high, that QC went down the toilet at one of the plants.

IIRC re the Deathstar debacle: Thailand good. Hungary BAD.
