Anyone tried "On The Job" time billing/tracking software? What do you use?
#1
It's on MacZot for $10 less than normal and seems pretty easy to use. It's now selling for $14.95: http://maczot.com/discuss/?p=154.

If you do not use this particular application, what do you use? I'm wondering because I'm still looking for a good one that's vaguely simple to use and tally well. At one point I was testing iBiz and ProjectTimer but put them to rest for a while. Right now my solution is to manually track my time and invoice clients using the web app SideJobTrack: http://www.sidejobtrack.com. It's free and good.

On The Job seems like a balance between manual and the full blown invoicing/tracking of iBiz.

EDIT: I should add that almost all of my projects are billed as flat project fees. SideJobTrack allows a user to bill flat project fees as percentages (ex: 40%/30%/30%). I'm actualy now wondering how a time tracking/billing app would help me...at least it can also tally credits and expenses. But so can SideJobTrack. Maybe the app will let me notice how much time/money I'm burning on a particular section of project before moving to another part. It would put real numbers to your time or dawdling. Hmm...

Any {useful} opinions are appreciated.

Thanks,

trisho,

iRatchet http://www.prettygoodsoftware.org/ is very similar to iBiz. Might be worth a look. TaskTime http://www.ttpsoftware.com/Products/tasktime.html is more time-tracking oriented, but I believe it can do flat rate as well. MacBusiness http://www.brightlightsoftware.com/prod_macbiz.html is one that I played with for a little while, as well.

None of those was quite perfect, but each was darn close. They all have demos so that you can try them out. Could be worth the effort to see if they meet your needs. Meanwhile, I continue with my sort of customized Filemaker solution. I don't know that mine's better, but I'm used to it and it does most of what I need.

Are you sure it's on MacZot today, or back from August 2nd and no longer available on MacZot?

The link I provided goes directly there. Here it is just in case: http://maczot.com/discuss/?p=154

EDIT: It's from August 2. I see what you mean now; we can't buy it at the discounted price. I think for a while you could still buy stuff, maybe if there were extra copies left over....

I've tried them all and was even a registered use of Studiometry 1.0 and iWork (now iBiz). Studiometry was clumsy and iBiz was buggy.

In January I switched to iRatchet and couldn't be happier. The developer support is top notch and the program is progressing rapidly. Well worth the price.
