A friend of mine has a PNY 1GB card in his Canon 620, and has shot continuous frames with it. He says it works fine, but he's planning to experiment with a faster card.

The electronics in a Canon 620 can't save data anywhere near as fast as even a slow card can handle.
The only difference getting a faster card will make is in slightly faster writing and reading files to a computer, if he uses a USB 2 or Firewire card reader. He can save his money.

Tell him to save his money. That camera doesn't even come close to what high speed cards would take take advantage of. Even a 32x would be overkill. Your friend will only get faster transfer speeds with a fast reader.

Thanks for the good info. The pny 2 gig card I used today was fine. I think we paid about 39.00 or so with rebates - maybe less.
We used the camera without really reading the manual, so we need to back up a bit. It did seem to do just fine. |
