Macbook keyboard freezing with Leopard
#1
Well my coworker's actually. He says he has been looking around and found other people with the same problem but can't find anything on an update or a fix. Anyone hear of anything related to this? He says the keyboard freezes for about 5 minutes then goes back to normal.

Have you done a search on Apple's discussion board? Also it could just be a bad install. If nothing else works do a reinstall. Maybe a file is missing and the keyboard freezes b/c it's looking for that file but can't find it and then times out and goes back to normal.

Is he trying to connect to some type of networked share drive?

EDIT: I deleted my reference to applejack. Thanks MacMagus, I wasn't aware.

Applejack is not Leopard-friendly.

There is a known-bug on many MacBooks where there will be weird keyboard lags that resemble a crash. So far as I know, there is no reliable fix yet. Some people have found that restarting with the Shift key held down to safe-boot will give them a longer period before the keyboard acts up again. Others swear that an Archive and Install fixed the trouble. Still others have brought their MacBooks back to Apple for a keyboard-swap or other miscellaneous repair.

BTW: It affects MacBooks running both Leopard AND Tiger.

I see this on my MacBook. Go to move the cursor, and it doesn't move... Just enough time passes for me to notice, then it starts working again. Maybe once every couple of hours.

I've wondered if it is related to how my hand is sitting on the rest area. But it is not often enough and it fixes too quickly for me to have nailed it down any further.
