I woke up to light tire squeal and a big ol' crash. Went outside and some foo had put his SUV right up onto the sidewalk across from my apartment and into a two-story fully-lit sign for the mini-mall across from my building. No brake marks so the squeal was probably the car taking a last minute sharp right turn, typical drunk driver slow reaction time.... missed the street, but not the sign on the corner.
Both occupants taken away by ambulance, passenger got the worst of it.
And now I can't sleep!

We get those kind of crashes here a couple of times a year. I live right off a major highway and my exit dumps you into a much darker rural residential area. The fools getting off the exit still think they're driving 75 and occasionally miss a twist in the road and hit a tree and/or flip over. Every now and then they manage to get all the way to the end of the street which ends at the Merrimack River and no where to go. Always a good time!

What color was the sign?
My limited understanding of the biochemistry of optics and alchohol is that people under the influence are more attracted to red colors.
Many police cars now have blue and violet flashing lights. One story I have heard about this is that these colors reduce the number of collisions that impaired drivers have with parked police cars.
