Weird Connector on Miglia Alchemy DVR Card?
#1
I've had this Alchemy DVR Card (silicon tuner version) for a few months (I purchased it when I thought I was going to get a PCI version G5, but then I decided to get the Quad, in which it won't work...)

I decided to try it out in my 800DP, but when I opened the pouch I saw this

The connector 2nd from the right is the TV antenna connector. It's not a push-on coax, nor is it an RCA connector. All the documentation from Miglia seems to show a regular F-type coaxial fitting.

The G4-only version of this card had an RCA-to-F-type connector for the TV antenna port, so I thought this might pull off to reveal an RCA plug -- no deal. Its a solid piece right to the board.

It kind of looks like a TNC connector, or maybe an N-type connector, but I don't have either of those handy to try.

Any help?

Thanks, but no. Like I said, it is not a push-on coax connector (I've got a mess of those).

This card is weird in that it also has a male RCA connector marked "FM Antenna". The silicon tuner version of the Alchemy card isn't supposed to have an FM tuner (I also have the G4 only version, which does have the FM tuner, so I know that this is not that card).

This is what the silicon tuner version of the card supposed to look like.

You can see the screw on f-type connector at the top, by itself.

Miglia is pretty good with tech support. I believe they included an adapter to be used in the States that would allow you to hook up a conventional coaxial cable. Check the box if you still have it or just contact them and I'll bet they'll send you one.

There is an adapter that turns it into a 'regular coax' connection.

I have one on a 10.4" LCD TV that came from Japan, several years back. It has the same connector, but it did come with the little adapter to convert it. It basically looks like the input that is on the far left of the pics...that part you see would be inserted, and on its backside if the regular coax connector.

I do still have the original package --I just opened it for the first time today -- there is no adapter.

I'll contact Miglia, I am kind of wondering what I have here. it looks like the silicon tunre card, except for the weird coax connectors and the FM antenna -- which does appear to be connected to something on the card.

It does NOT look like the G4 only card.

revision change or mispackaged. get the info off the card and call them (or e-mail)

According Miglia it is a G4/G5 Card with FM tuner. The radio is not supported by software, though. Its a shame, I always thought Miglia missed a trick by not adding DVR-like for the FM tuner on the G4 card.
