Should I, should I (new monitor)??

I don't know if this is just me WISHING I could buy a nice new piece of Mac machinery right now(but I have to wait until the hopefully-updated Mini)and having to occupy my wallet otherwise-but shouldn't I get one of these?

I'm semi-looking, because while I have a monitor it's a 7 year old anything-but-flatscreen that's like 15". This sounds like a really good price and I probably don't even need a 19"(it'd be nice). I'm not doing any Pantone color matching, but I do want photos to look decent on it(low standards here, remember!).

Any opinions appreciated-if you think I should not, I'd love to hear about a good deal on some other monitor.

Would the Norcent one be better? This one is just over $100. I don't know much about monitors... I last bought one before any of this newfangled LCD business. I use currentcodes.com for coupon codes.... it would have to be a pretty big one to get it down to that price.

It DOES look like the rebates stack, but they're saying $100 rebate. I think that's a nice price, but I'm not familiar enough with the product to know if it'll be good.

Ken Sp. The $80 and $20 rebates need to be sent in together and require the original UPC/Serial number/barcode cut out.

The 70 Mail in rebate wouldnt fly, unless there was two UPC/Serial number/barcodes on the box.

I just got done doing this deal earlier this evening. After taking into account tax, rebate, the purchase of coupons from eBay (I picked up a $50 off $200 coupon for $4 and 3 $3 ink coupons for a buck apiece), and the purchase of a 49-cent box of paperclips, this thing will have cost me around $110. Was able to submit the rebate online immediately after the purchase.

Oh, and one more thing. Based on a casual glance at things, I think the Norcent should be better. Plus, shipping is free w/Staples. The only caveat for the MacMall deal is that monitor has a VGA connection whereas the Norcent has a DVI.

My son recently purchased a (Hanns-G) LCD monitor after years of using a CRT monitor. To quote him, "It's beautiful!". The difference between the quality of the image on the Hanns-G LCD compared to the CRT is quite remarkable (Stuck with a CRT-I do have monitor envy!). I don't know about the quality and durability of the Norcent of Gem monitors. I'd strongly suggest reading some user reviews first. Good Luck! Dave

Yes you should. It's time to move on from a 15" CRT.

I'm not too thrilled with mail-in rebates these days, however, and keep in mind, that Mac Mall deal costs $210 out of pocket until (if?) the rebates arrive.

Also, the picture and specs don't match. It shows a 4:3 monitor but it says the resolution is 1440x900 which is widescreen.

I think you could probably find a nice monitor with less rebate hassles. But you will probably have to pay more than $110 to avoid rebates.

I hate to spew more questions... but do you think a good deal will be around in a couple of months, closer to my anticipated Mini purchase? I'd only want to buy now if there was a good reason to jump on something. It sounds like there's not(and I get newspapers and such, so might come across a Staples coupon naturally).

And, is there anything I could buy now that I would regret once I get my new Mini?

I had no idea about the connectors being preferable one over the other-good thing I learned that here! I agree widescreen would be nice, but in my pricerange I can't be picky.
