I think these are from the '80s, but don't hold me to it.
Some examples for me:
Keep on lovin' you - REO Speedwagon
Kiss on my list - Hall and Oates
Turn me loose - Loverboy
Lost in love - Air Supply
etc.

Those all make me want to kill myself, or at least destroy the radio that's playing them.

Come on now, you mean to tell me that hearing "Turn me loose" doesn't make you want to put on red leather pants, a tight shirt and a bandana?

Positive: Anything by Bon Jovi. It's a Jersey thing...you wouldn't understand.
Negative: "Take these Broken Wings" by Mister Mister. Mrs. Poochie and I had an upstairs neighbor who used to play this song at full volume on Sunday mornings. To make matters worse, he would sing along at the top of his miserable lungs. We counterattacked with our stereo speakers placed near our ceiling blasting the Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique.

WHAT INCOGNEGRO SAID. IN SPADES.
I'm sure those songs DO evoke strong memories ... strong memories of crappy your taste in what you listened to was in those days!
I hope for your childrens' sake that your taste in music has improved. Dramatically.

I did say they were cheesey. And, whether I like them or not, they evoke strong memories of my school days (probably because the videos were in heavy rotation on MTV back then...that was when MTV actually played music videos, of all things!).

Hmmm... I would say, in no particular order:
Here I Go Again (Whitesnake)
Hard to Say I'm Sorry (Chicago)
Head Over Heels (Go-Go's)
Take On Me (a-ha)
Eternal Flame (Bangles)
Electric Blue (Icehouse)
Sister Christian (Night Ranger)
... and those are only a few. There were quite a lot of decent 80's songs.

That was Yesterday - Foreigner
Budapest - Jethro Tull (not actually cheesey)
Midnight Blue - Uhhhh, can't remember name
We're not gonna take it - Twisted sister
