'Mint, such a condensed article wouldn't be sufficient to describe what I feel are all the evils he committed in life. You just have to go to the various quotes he made. Don't get me wrong, I am saddened by his death, just as I would've been by Hitler's or any other man I perceive to have done evil. The sadness comes from the understanding that here was a human being that tried to do what they felt was good (and this applies to Hitler and Bin Laden as well), but in the process got consumed by their anger, to the point where that all that remained was this evil person, perhaps cocooning a small essence of his good persona. It's just the tragedy of a life begun with much promise (as we all do when we were born) ending up in such a sad manner.

I hate this comparing Hitler to Falwell. Hitler did not mean well. The Holocaust proves it. Hitler was insane. Attempted genocide has nothing to do with religious and political beliefs. I believe there is such a thing as real evil and sometimes it touches down on Earth. Along with Adolph, Pol Pot, Idi Amin and Sadaam are examples. Falwell was not evil. Too much of this looks like hatred of the far right which Jerry certainly represented but with his own peculiar twists. Homophobia is certainly not part of the principles of the Right.

[quote spearmint]Attempted genocide has nothing to do with religious and political beliefs.
OXYMORON ALERT!!! OXYMORON ALERT!!! STUPIDITY ALERT!!! DISPROVED FALSEHOOD ALERT!!!
Read your sentence again and tell us how that makes any sense whatsoever.
Wait, read your whole statement again and understand how you contradicted yourself several times over:

Hitler did mean well. He meant to improve Germany by "making it stronger" by ridding it of all the undesirables he didn't desire to exist or be there. Didn't Jerry Falwell want the same for America? I believe so and he stated it several times over. He was a bigot on many levels, plain and simple. And yes, publicly traded Homophobia is part of the far right, along with the privately traded closet cases within the party.

Don't speculate that homophopia is a part of the Conservative Doctrine. It is not true. Also when did Falwell say anything about ridding society of any groups by genocide?. You know this about politics and Religion not discussing the Aryan Brotherhood or KKK. It will be interesting to find any reporting tomorrow that even comes close to the hatred shown here. I already checked the NY Times and its obituary was not that critical and was fair.

He was filled with hatred and was a hypocrite.
I won't dance a jig, but I won't shed a tear, either.

Falwell was a White Sox fan. Had season tickets and was instrumental in keeping Ron Santo out of the Hall of Fame.
