Jersey, Georgia, Florida and California are all fighting fire. Jesus! Catalina Island and Florida/Georgia swamps are ablaze and this is only May and we're losing soldiers over the rights to cheap oil and more greenhouse effect.

Anything wrong with this picture for you?

from the Jersey Cape:

Nasty bit of business, these last few days. Truth be told, some version of this happens every so often down here. Doesn't make it less tragic, just a bit more expectable (enormous tracks of land dedicated to timber here). A "laurel and hearty" thank you goes out the smoke eaters bustin' their humps masterfully doin' their jobs.

And Mother Nature finally cooperated yesterday w/ blessed rains that helped contain the blaze. Slowly, we're gettin' back to normal and folks are returning home. Some properties lost (all things considered it could have been much worse), but most folks have returned to ash, soot and smoke. Haven't heard that we lost anybody, thankfully.

Thanks all around for the concern.

No one, and I say this because I have lived in the Garden State (and survived so far) for my entire life from New Jersey ever says "Joisey." Its like claiming that people from Northern California call that big city "Frisco" or you tourists pronouncing Houston St. in Manhattan the same way as that big city in southeast Texas. And South Jersey is a different planet anyway, especially to us North Jersey snobs LOL.

The Pine Barrens have seen fire for thousands of years, and man-made mishaps started with the Lenni Lenape indians. Here is an article from today's Star-Ledger on how fire is necessary for the pinelands. Of course, if you live in a retirement community nearby, fire can be a bit of a problem.

I grew up in South Jersey (the better half of the state), and I know how to pronounce it.
It's just a funny way to spell Jersey.

And I only posted this cuz the comments on that blog are friggin' hilarious.

Maybe those base invading 'terrorists' were only tree huggers attempting to smuggle in posters.

Now maybe they'll finally find that Russian guy that Paulie and Chrissy famously lost out there.

He wasn't Russian, he was a "Czechoslovakian" (Chechen).
And he was an interior decorator!
