Looks like there is a problem with the site now. I just loaded the page before I posted.

Pron,

What makes this such a good deal? A new one from Amazon with EF-S 18-55mm lens is $519.

This one as a refurb without a lens is $369 plus shipping. Most lens cost AT LEAST $150 don't they?

I guess maybe as a second body if you have a bunch of lens already...

I ask because I've been looking for a Digital SLR for when my Canon S2 just doesn't cut it. Thanks.

P.S. My *current* SLR is a Canon A-1 Smile

The EF-S 18-55mm lens isn't worth (or shouldn't cost) $150, so this is still a good deal even if you would be buying the EF-S 18-55mm lens separately. The trick there would be to find a used one, from someone who upgraded to better glass.

Oh... okay, that helps. Thanks!

I will echo some comments that the 18-55 is a pretty standard lens. The body only allows you to get a better lens with more range. The refurbs from adorama are reportedly coming in really nice shape.

A good buy, just a caution for the manically serious: new canon xt series probably with digic III sensor w/10 or 12+ mpixels around the corner. I didn't think the digic III (better, faster, cleaner) would be included in next version of xt but may now to compete with the big catchup strides other mfgs are making.

actually, if anything, and update to the EOS 5D is probably next. Isn't the XTi DIGIC III already?
