I'm trying it out now... seems to work great. (I would use ChickenoftheVNC, but the machine I want to access is behind an institutional firewall.)
Anyone here using logmein.com ?

I use it to fix my mother-in-laws Windows PC and it works great. The best part is I don't have to install any software on my computer to use it. You set up an account and it shows all the computers you have access to.

Shakes, that's interesting, because when I installed it, it told me to install a browser plugin on my (client) end...
I'm wondering if there's any downside to this? Security? Their having access to your machines? etc. (And how are they possibly making money with this?)

I'm sorry. I had to install software on my mother-in-law's computer to control it but not mine.
When I first logged in with my Mac it asked to install something but it's not necessary. I didn't and it still worked.

I'm wondering if there's any downside to this? Security? Their having access to your machines? etc. (And how are they possibly making money with this?) Just wait until you try to remove it. They load you up with a bunch of files with names other than LogMeIn and they load at start up. Try to remove it from your startup and it will put it right back in. I don't trust LogMeIn for that reason. I tried it about 6 months ago and had trouble getting it uninstalled. Fred Also |
