Spotlight question...
#1
(...and Spotlight Sucks is not an answer...)

When I do a Spotlight search and show all results (or search within a Finder window) the search is ALWAYS by "Contents" as default. I almost always want to search on File Name. Of course this is not addressable in Spotlight preferences because Spotlight su... well, you know.

How do I change the default setting of Spotlight to search by file name?

If you go into Spotlight Preferences there is a list of categories. As it says at the top of that screen, just Drag categories to change the order in which results appear. And you can have categories NOT show by simply unchecking them.

Oops - I misunderstood your question.... :-(

And yet you have highlighted the absence of a setting for the preference I'm looking for...

Apparently shift-command-F will open a search window set to Filenames.

Stupid.

I'm going back to Easyfind... again.
