Eh, well, having good ad blocking will speed up surfing much more than that.

FireFox 3.0b2 is still a bit rough around the edges but it screams - awesome to see an open source project address the biggest complaint from joe average user. I believe it'll be out in early summer.

I just tried Shiira 2.2 vs WebKit's latest.
Shiira loaded Versiontracker.com much faster.
it's also half the size of WebKit.

You can download the latest build
here.
I'm finding it blazingly fast. The cool thing about it is that it automatically copies over all your bookmarks. And you can run both Safari and this Webkit version simultaneously.
It most likely interprets code differently than the standard Safari, so I wouldn't use it to check site work, but for basic browsing, it's dang fast and usable.
WOW! I am running an older machine... and I thought that Safari 2.0 was a huge improvement!!! This does Circles around Safari 2.0!!!
THANKS!!!

Typically what takes up much size in a browser is language translations. The English only version of OW is 16MB smaller. Another issue is how many buttons and how many button versions there are.
I'm somewhat curious why the size of a browser is very important. We're talking at most about 60MB. That's not even too much for many mobile phones these days.

well I tried the webkit and my 10min impression is that it is noticeably and dramatically faster than safari.
