Smallville
Legion

Thu, Jan 15, 8:00 PM on CW

The Persuader attacks Clark; Chloe, as Brainiac, tells Davis he is Doomsday and that he was created to destroy the ``other Kryptonian'' and the world.

Smallville Casting Scoop: Doomsday Scenario Brings "Legion" Heroes to Town

. . .In the devastating wake of what happens at the end of this week's Smallville episode — let's just say that Davis isn't feeling like himself and Chloe is due for a helluva honeymoon — Clark's hometown is going to need a super clean-up crew. Cue the arrival of Saturn Girl (aka Imra Ardeen), Lightning Lad (Garth Ranzz) and Cosmic Boy (Rokk Krinn), all of whom travel far to tackle this task — specifically, from the 31st century.

Played by Alexz Johnson (well-known for her run as Jude on Instant Star), Calum Worthy (who has had a handful of appearances on Psych) and Ryan Kennedy (from CTV's Whistler), the trio of helping hands will effectively introduce Clark to the famed Legion of Super-Heroes — which he, as Superman, one day will join.

The three Legionnaires are slated to make their debut in Smallville's first episode back following the midseason break: "Legion," penned by Geoff Johns (a favorite scribe of DC Comics fans) and airing Jan. 15.

I haven't picked up a comic book in a long time, so maybe they changed the rules.

But wasn't the Legion all teens? So Superboy would have been the one to join, not Superman. Again, going back to the Mort Weisenger and Curt Swan days, I thought that Superman had found out that he had been a member by somehow time traveling as Superboy.

I don't watch Smallville-is there some continuity fix there that corrects this?

I think they were all teens originally. Hence the names. Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy, Bouncing Boy etc.

Those comics were a source of constant humor with some of the characters they came up with. Like Stone Boy. No, turning into a villain wrecking machine made out of stone is so old. Lets just have him turn into a non-moving stone statue. Or Matter Eater Lad who had the "power to eat matter in all forms".

Yes, they were all teens in the comic books. As a kid I was always curious about how Matter Eater Lad was able to metabolize all the stuff he ate (not to mention the teeth that boy must have!)

They're not following the comic books religiously. Good thing.
