McCain smears Obama in general election's first attack ad
#1
Somehow I knew the Repubs would do it first.

So much for a "respectful campaign" -- John McCain is now running the first negative attack ad of the general election, and he's jumped right into the sleazy end of the pool with a fear-mongering swipe at Barack Obama.

McCain's attack ad depicts Barack and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad facing each other, the visual imagery suggesting that Barack Obama is somehow aligned with one of America's enemies.

There's been a consistent pattern of BO's campaign going agro and then BO apologizing for his campaign's tactics. I would be surprised to see something very much like that "mock ad" come out of BO's trenches.

It's shoot first and ask questions later these days, don't dare negotiate with anyone.

Oops, should have been =not= surprised.

Anyways, my personal approval rating of Obama tends to go up when he shows some teeth.

This is EXACTLY what needs to happen. BO needs to stand up and proclaim, "It's GOOD for us to try to engage in diplomacy. And it should be the norm rather than the exception. We have seen the alternative, and it is a quagmire."

The BO cover story in June's Esquire mag made a point of "...there needs to be an accounting of the sins of the past eight years" vs. just "moving on" and not dealing OUT LOUD with all the wrongs that have been done. Made the point that there will be no moving forward with real change until America has a confession, and a reckoning, if you will. It is an interesting point.
