Why would anyone buy Yellow Pages application for iPhone?!?
#1
If you are currently holding a device with an always on wireless Internet connection with GPS capabilities, why in the world would you purchase a Yellow Pages application? Google does that for free, and better. Yet I see that it is among the top purchases for the App Store. I guess it is free, but still, what's the point?

I have an online version of the local white & yellow pages on my computer. It is basically a digital version of the paper book with all the ads and even coupons. It has a great search engine (fast and accurate) and a nice browse capability, if I don't exactly who or what I'm looking for. For local stuff it is a lot better than Google and quick--I use it first. Don't have an iTunes account or an iPhone, so I don't know how his app compares.

I just added my company to Google local. It is free, and they include the ability to add coupons to the link too not that an industrial manufacturing facility would provide coupons, but I could if I wanted to. I can embed a photo of our building, products, reviews, etc. I think that this beats the local yellow pages pretty thoroughly.

I downloaded it for use when I eventually can get my unlocked iPhone to 2.0. I figured it would be a faster, cleaner interface for doing that sort of lookup. If it is not, it gets deleted. It's free, so people are trying things out.
