I only have 3 "startup at login" items - and besides limiting those - are there any little things one can do to make his/her Mac startup faster? I'm not sure why mine is so slow - perhaps it's time for a wipe and reinstall?
thanks

If you are talking about the MB Pro described in your sig, you could always upgrade to a 7200 rpm hard drive.

I usually leave it on. But since my logic board issues, lately I've been having to do hard restarts because of freezes and I have no patience. lol
Then once it seems everything is loaded, it takes almost 10 bounces for (for example) Safari to open.
I'm just frustrated...my computer is breaking down and I didn't buy Applecare.....*sigh*

Check how many Login items you have: System Preferences>Accounts. Maybe you can eliminate some. Also clear off your Desktop.

He said he had only three.
Unless one of them is AOL or CS3 or the like, three should be a problem at all.
But with logic board problems and hard shutdowns, there may be a directory problem.
I'd run DiskWarrior. And at the very least, I'd to a Safe Boot (hold the Shift key while starting up) then reboot.

finely chopped habanero peppers should get it started pretty quick...
be sure to wear rubber gloves during installation, and don't rub your eyes.

I bet that Spotlight is indexing when you're waiting for Safari to open just after restart.

Go cold boot Windows. You'll feel better in no time.
