"We may one day look back on this presidential campaign in wonder. We may marvel that Obama's critics called him an elitist, as if an Ivy League education were a source of embarrassment, and belittled his eloquence, as if a gift with words were suddenly a defect. In fact, Obama is educated and eloquent, sober and exciting, steady and mature. He represents the nation as it is, and as it aspires to be."

And, unattributed to boot. Say want you will about LA, but its full of great writers. And he nails it.

I have rarely seen endorsements like these for a president in my lifetime.

"But Mr. Obama's temperament is unlike anything we've seen on the national stage in many years. He is deliberate but not indecisive; eloquent but a master of substance and detail; preternaturally confident but eager to hear opposing points of view. He has inspired millions of voters of diverse ages and races, no small thing in our often divided and cynical country. We think he is the right man for a perilous moment."

Actually 0bamas brand of marxism tempered with black liberation theology is far worse than
any garden variety of socialism - 0bama will make the commies look like conservative nice
guys. No. Think "socialism", "world government", "infanticide", "dependency", "open borders",
"repeal of the second amendment", and "suppression of free speech".

Remember when you were a kid, and you say you'd love something, and the other kids would ask why you don't marry it?

I want to marry these paragraphs.

I agree - we're sitting here astounded by these endorsements - they are all so passionate and eloquent! It's inspiring.

Unfortunately, thanks to the political machines, it is not desirable to have "too much education" among a chunk of the electorate.

I don't recall anyone ever playing up W's Harvard & Yale background or his privileged New England upbringing in a very powerful political family. No, that would be what we now refer to as "elitist".

W is just a good old country boy from Texas right?
