Poll: Magnetic car door signs
#1
I've decided to start teaching (guitar) privately so I'm mulling about different marketing techniques. I saw a magnetic car door sign the other day and have been considering the possibilities. I have had all the reactions i posted in the poll except the last one. i certainly would think those signs might tend to mysteriously disappear.

I don't have one for my business, but I've considered it. What's the harm?

I think they're perfectly fine and have never been offended or put off at seeing one. If you're going to use one, I strongly recommend you try to tap into some of the (free?!) advice available here on the forum about design. I certainly wouldn't see you as creating anything offensive, but you would want to use a design or color scheme that attracted attention.

It justifies writing off at least some of the car expenses as business expense for tax purposes.

Just my opinion, but I think they look temporary and cheap. Not as cheap as the guys who go and buy individual stick-on address letters at Home Depot and then stick them on their trucks, never in a level line. But if you're going to do it, I'd suggest a minimal amount of wording, like "Guitar Lessions xxx-xxx-xxxx", as that's all someone can read on a moving car anyway. Then, if you find that you are getting inquiries from the magnets, I'd suggest moving up to a professionally-applied window decal or something like that.

Posting signs on public property is awful. Putting a sign on your own vehicle? Go for it.

really good pricing. i looked there even before i posted the poll. though i don't think i should use this one:

VistaPrint does have some good, basic designs. the music ones are on the cheesy side but there are other options.

Are you saying magnetic door signs have music? I hope not. THAT would offend my sensibilities. Smile
