The chip in question is surface mount, so there are no pins on the underside of the board. I soldered the
pins that are under the black bundle of wires on this side of the board.

I picked up a ton of furniture off FreeCycle after I moved out of my parent's place. Some of it was pretty nice stuff that I still have today.
