McCain set for 'Saturday Night Live' cameo

. . .My friends, it's John McCain, live from New York, just three days before the election.

Aides to the Republican presidential candidate said Friday that McCain will make a detour from battleground states to appear on "Saturday Night Live," the late-night show that has been a must-watch for many during the political season.

Hosting the show this Saturday is actor Ben Affleck, a supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama. The musical guest is singer David Cook.

When McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, appeared on the show Oct. 18, "Saturday Night Live" earned its best ratings in 14 years. Former star and head writer Tina Fey, a Palin lookalike, has been at the center of the show's recent parodies of the campaign.

"SNL" regular Darrell Hammond impersonates McCain on the late-night show, now in its 34th season. . .

i doubt this will garner the ratings that Palin did and for that reason alone i think this is a lame move on McCain's part. it won't gather him more any votes and the lower ratings will have him come off as a less than presidential has been. what idiot is calling the shots on his campaign?

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

With 4 more days 'til election, in the polls he's trailing anywhere from 6-10%. He's gotta do SOMETHING, anything to try and salvage his campaign. Break out those Hail Mary passes into the endzone!

What's next? A "leaked" sex tape?! Ackkk!!!
Politics ain't pretty.

He really has little to lose. He use to call in to local sports shows here in LA and despite what you see during this campaign he can be funny and self-effacing, I'd guess that's what he'll go for this Saturday.

He was really good the time he hosted SNL. But that was the old McCain. Wonder where he has hidden him?

Hey, I should be able to do what he's done when I'm his age. These two-year campaigns are a young persons game and he's held up, physically at least.
