I want a device that...
#1
If I was a McGyver kind of guy, I'd make a device that emits a strong electro-magnetic pulse, in a tight beam, with a range of about 200 feet.

I'd use this device from my front porch to disable the stereos in cars that come to visit the crack dealer across the street.

It would be even better if this device could shoot through a window.

All of the neighbors have called the cops on these people at some time or another yet business goes on. This would be a lot more tolerable if the lyrics weren't so offensive. A word I've spent my entire life trying to eliminate from my vocabulary seems to be a favorite of those who make this sort of "music."

Yes you can make an EM Pulse device like that.
EM waves go right through glass.
But anything strong enough to burn up a stereo would most likely turn off the power on your block and cost several hundred thousand dollars to build.
Read about it here in the NNEMP section.:

Calling the cops means nothing in these situations.
My neighbors were professional DJ's and used to rent out their house for parties.
What you have to do is file a written complaint and be willing to go to court.
We won, the landlord had to evict them.

I never saw precise specs on the frequency or voltage, but a spark gap generator at the focus of a six foot satellite dish was shown to crash a PC at 50 yards.

Hey, there's an empty house down the street with a 6' dish in the back yard. Hmmm.

cbelt3, that reminds me of "Indian Love Call" by Slim Whitman in Mars Attacks! If only it would make their radios explode.

I'd use it on Police Radar and to disable them from chasing me for a ticket.

It's a good thing that this doesn't exist!
