After making the purchase almost 6 months ago, I finally took the converter box out of the package and hooked it up to our 27" CRT TV. Reception seems to be fairly good, although we have noticed one channel having a tendency to cut in and out. I am guessing that our antenna being located in the attic may contribute to that issue. I am curious how many other forum member are still waiting to make the switch to digital? I am guessing I am one of the last to make the switch.

I tried the converter I got from dish network (one that BGnR recommends a lot) and I didn't get any channels, but also my antenna is not the best one. I use cable for now, but I got a converter just in case...

I made the switch a year ago, partly because I got $200 for my heavy 35" Toshiba CRT. And I sold it just in time. I also wanted to finally watch the World Series in HDTV. The day I bought it the World Series was on, and it was awesome on HDTV! Then I replaced a very old 19" CRT with a 26" HDTV in the computer room.
I still have a 27" CRT in a bedroom, but I'll be getting a free digital adapter from Comcast for that TV. Just got the letter from Comcast Saturday. And, I have an attic antenna for that set if I want to use a dtv converter box.

I guess you could call me a luddite....the old analog TV signal was working fine and I just didn't want to "fix" something that wasn't broken. My wife asked if I knew for a fact that the, still unwrapped, converter box would work. That is what gave me the push I needed to hook it up.

I haven't made the switch yet. I have one of the Zenith boxes--I just haven't hooked it up yet. I hear that the engineers who wrote up the specs for the boxes assumed that people would have a rooftop antenna 10 meters above the street, and I think that was a bad assumption.

I can't get anything on my Zenith box, but it works at my brother's house. I hope a new taller antenna does the trick.
