Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman - (worse than Farrah Fawcett)
#1
Wow - I thought starting out this was a joke, but it appears that he is the worst interview ever.
Mumbling, single word answers and appeared to be totally out of it - After a while Dave just ran with it.

After suffering through the ordeal (honestly it was painful) Dave's closing remarks to him -

"Joaquin, we're sorry you couldn't be here tonight ... and I owe an apology to Farrah Fawcett"

Probably will be on YouTube in a few hours

Yeah. I caught some of that...

The highpoint being Dave pointing out his raw infected cuticle.

Yeah - that or when Dave tried to get him to talk about his upcoming album and Phoenix mumbled something about
coming back to preform on the show and Dave said - "No, I don't see that happening"

Phoenix seemed genuinely puzzled and somewhat indignant - yet totally clueless

Kramerica - already there - wow that was fast !

C'mon,,,, he was acting... wasn't he?!?!?!? Wow!

editL That is unbelievable. I'd read some stuff about that cat but just chalked it up to BS Hollywood talk. I'm now speechless.

That's the Letterman that I remember and enjoyed back in the 80's.

"What can you tell us about your time with the Unibomber?"

Joaquin might be a little upset if he sees that when he is sober.

And that's why they call it Dope.

"I'll come to your house and chew gum."

OUCH.

Most painful talk show interview I saw was Harrison Ford on Conan a year or so ago. There's a very brief clip of it on YouTube but it only shows Conan referencing Ford's well-known grumpiness and Ford saying "that's B.S." /audience laughing. The interview was otherwise humorless, with Ford mostly silent and staring at Conan, who was completely unable to engage him.
