You should hear what the Toyota off roaders say about Jeeps. :-)

The problem is unless you're talking about an H1, those others are a piss poor substitute for an off road vehicle (relatively speaking more style over substance). So one can only conclude it's ineffective excess. A Mercedes Geländewagen (G Class) would be a better substitute.

You can have an H2 for well under $50K. G-wagen is $100K+. An H3 might look puny here but take that to Baghdad and it will tower over anything else on the road. Throw in the $30K sticker price and it is no contest.

H2/H3 are worse than a joke, real offroaders call it a "Tahoe in a Top Hat", low cost components that break in a heartbeat.
I have a great video of an H2 snapping a tierod when trying to negotiate a small rock.

Exactly. If you really needed the capability, then get something that is capable.

The H2/H3 is to off-roading what the fake hood scoop is to engine performance.

....but, but, but, the H2 and H3 have a LOT in common with highly successful offroad capabilities of the military Hummer. They both have radiator grilles that look a lot like the real Hummer. They also have....did I mention the radiator grilles?

Remember, H2's competition in Iraq is this.

ps

This is also something we might see coming out of Detroit after Obama and Geithner get through "reorganizing" GM. So get your Hummer now while you can.

Now why do you have to go on personal attacks again? Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sincere about that), did RgrF attack you in some personal way?

Besides, that's not the H2's competition in Iraq. There are a lot of other legitimate modern off-road vehicles from other countries that are the H2's competitors.

I was extremely disturbed by that picture. How insensitive of him or her to post such a gruesome picture of horrible death just to reply to me. I am not that important, really. I thought to myself who was sitting in front? They must have been somebody's mother, father or child. How would their loved ones feel to see that picture one more time? I too might have gone too far to make a point , and for that I apologize.

It's too bad the Hummer wasn't built well enough to protect them, not unlike the unarmored Humvees that didn't protect our troops during the early days of Iraq.
