Small wodden chest to fit in panrty?
#1
Might anyone know of a supplier of a small chest of drawers (under a foot and a half wide) that would fit inside our pantry?

We currently have one of those Target plastic shelve units inside there and while seeing what is inside each drawer is nice, having each drawer collapse on the one beneath it nearly constantly sucks. A night light-colored wood chest would be grand. But finding a supplier ....

Chopper,

It sounds like you're putting too much weight onto each shelf and/or using shelves that weren't intended for what you're doing with them. With that in mind, I can near guarantee you'll find a chest of drawers that will suit your needs if you look around the net for home decor sites. Or, instead of using plastic shelving units, switch to wood or metal models. Target and similar stores sell stackable wood units as well metal models.

I just purchased three small filing cabinets from home decor outlet. Each was $24.99 or so. The prices on the ones I got were reduced to a ridiculously low number, so I grabbed them. At that price, they're going to just fine for filing or whatever other use I can find for them. I'm even of thinking of using them as night stands.

I keep my computer parts in an Ikea dresser and nightstand. The weight of the HDs alone is enough to make the bottom drop out of the drawers.

'Picked up a few braces like the ones in the link, but smaller. Home Depot had 'em for something like 2 for $.49. 'Spent 20 minutes securing the bottoms of the drawers to the sides (8 for each drawer, 2 to a side on the inside of each drawer) and they're fine now.

Cheap stuff always has problems like that. Expensive stuff does too. Check out Target's selection of cheap wooden drawer sets, buy something that's not awful and fix it up the way I did mine.

Looks like they just sell fabrics online. Easier to ship.

second on the Target stuff. not as good as IKEA, but easier to come by with shipping and b/m locations. some of their stuff is indistinguishable from IKEA.

Yeah, some flashlights in one, tools in the other and batteries in the third ... no matter how you stack them the top two eventually fall in on the others.

It'd be nice to have something custom made. Where are the Amish when I need them?

Sounds like you could use a small kitchen cabinet drawer unit (depending on depth)

Check to see what is available off the shelf at the the home improvement stores - might also check closet organizers.

If you have a local custom cabinet shop might be worth checking with them as well. Might be about the same
as a big box store - maybe a bit more, but you can get exactly what you want.
