Loved my proms! Took my girlfriend in to my junior prom in 1986 and then a French foreign exchange student my senior year. Nothing like cruising in my 1968 Camaro with a tux and her with her big poofie dress and big hair!! I even remember the theme song - This Could be the Night.....
The 80s.....

Didn't have one. Orthodox Jewish high school, boys' and girls' sites were a few miles apart.

No and no. And I didn't go to any of the reunions, either.

Yes, it was a combined Jr./Sr. Prom and the theme sucked because our senior class reps to the prom committee got snookered by the Jr. class, so we had "Unchained Melody" as the theme. The music also sucked, with the exception of Rock Lobster.
Of course, my choice for song at the time would've been "The End" by The Doors, and in retrospect, that would have been a horrible choice, especially if we'd gone with the unedited version as heard in Apocalypse Now...

No and somewhat yes. I say "somewhat yes" because I said to myself at the beginning of senior year that if I wasn't already going out with someone, I wouldn't go. There was a girl who I think wanted me to ask her out, but it was fairly obvious to me that she only wanted that so that she'd have someone to take her, and there was no interest in me specifically. So I wished that I had gone, or more specifically, that I had someone I would have wanted to go with.

Times have changed (for the better): when my daughter told me the other day she was going to the prom, I innocently said, "that's great - who asked you?" She laughed and said, "I asked him."
:oldfogey:BACK IN MY DAY, that never would have happened. No, I never went to my prom. At the time, I thought proms weren't cool.
