Which of these to buy- the
Elite Pro Quad Classic, or the
Elite-AL Quad? Any particular advantage to the aluminum enclosure for the minor extra $ ?
(I have a non-eSata "Classic," so stacking would be an advantage there.)

AFAICS, the Elite Pro Quad Classic supports up to four drives, the Elite-AL Quad is for a single drive.
They both have quad interfaces: eSATA, FW800, FW400, USB2.

Ordered the Elite Pro Classic. Didn't see the point in the extra $5 for aluminum.

Hi Joey,
According to the folks I asked here at OWC, the only difference is the exterior case, but the internal stuff is the same. Aluminum does have good heat dissipating properties and the more expensive case uses the Oxford 924 chipset. They're both single drive enclosures, as far as I can tell.
If you're into the techie data, here is information on the newer Oxford 934DSB chipset from plxtech:

(I didn't immediately find any info. on the 924 chipset.)
I have the one with the 924 chipset, works just fine in the 2 years I've had it.
Hope that helps,

It appears that the difference between the chipsets might have something to do with RAID striping, which is not in my immediate plans (I would buy a dedicated multi-drive box to do that if it did come up anyway). I'm sure I'll be happy with the Classic, I've never had a heat problem with the (non-eSATA) one I've got.
