calling all rummies

I'm not a big rum drinker. Working a week in the Bahamas, home of a Bacardi distillery.
In addition to my faves at Duty Free (El Tesoro if I find it and Gran Marnier for margaritas), I was thinking of buying a bottle of Bacardi since it's cheaper then cheap.
Normally I drink Cachaça, Brazilian rum.
Is there any Bacardi worth drinking?
Last time I had it, I had their 151 (lighter fluid) and their silver (feh).
I see they now make Solera, 8, Gold & Anejo that I would assume more interesting.
Anyone favorable impressions of any?

What, they don't give free sample during the tour?

If you drink Cachaca, then even the lowly Bacardi should taste like a fine cognac... mind you, it makes caipirinhas one of the best drinks on the planet but it's fire water.

I prefer (when I drink it, like thrice per year) the super-smooth Barbancourt from Haiti.

don't think I'll have time for a tour. Just a duty free stop.
Cachaça is only good for caipirs ...... and they are something to be reconded with.

My rum of choice is Mount Gay Eclipse Gold from Barbados. If I had to pick a Bacardi, I'd go with the Gold over the Silver or Black rums.

Anejo is the fave of SO, sipping liquor of the finest grade according to him. And we know he has fine taste-he picked me.

that was my original thought, too, but if I drank, testcase's choice is good one, or Lamb's Navy Rum if you can find it...
