City removes all American flags to save money

Clearwater, Florida (where else would such lunacy happen) has taken down all the flags and even removed the flagpoles to save some money.

Times are tough and maintenance costs money. Some people are against any tax increases for any reason so you get this. Others of us don't mind paying taxes because we know you get what you pay for.

Bull$#!^... Funny how 40 years ago, with budgets less than 50% of what they are now, they could maintain and display the flag... If Government at ALL levels stopped trying to expand to every facet of our lives, they'd have PLENTY of money for flag maintenance and display. And back to the original post; Is there a requirement that public administrators must be idiots? Yup. There is. A few skate through the system without meeting that requirement... but bloody few.

Have you ever been to Clearwater?
The Scientology Church owns most of the downtown real estate so the city gets no taxes from these prime locations. The city has always struggled because of this.

If they would tax the aliens and not the church (preferably TOLL, since they are coming a long way), the
tax base would be in great shape! Test someone on their goofy machines - and if they have aliens in them, they gotta pay the toll FOR THEM.

Why is there a need to display flags in parks and at swimming centers? Is there a risk that visitors will not know what country they're in?

Maybe the patriots of that area will take it upon themselves to install
their own poles and flags. It would be the patriotic thing to do. |
