apple peel coming to the usa
#1
This is a very interesting idea. An ipod touch case that turns the ipod into a cell phone. I like the idea since I'm stuck on verizon but do have an ipod touch.

I would be very interested if I could do an ala carte plan, pay as I go for phone service + a data plan. The main reason to consider an ipad is for 3g, and 3g coverage is really spoty here, and didn't work in the one place I would really want it.

I don't know. I fully expect Apple to kill it with extreme prejudice.

"The Apple Peel is a protective case equipped with a dock connector, battery and SIM card, that slips on to an iPod Touch. Once connected and properly installed, the device will allow the iPod Touch to make phone calls and send text messages."

Since it states it has a SIM card, it doesn't sound like it will work with Verizon.

I don't know anything about SIM cards. What does it's presence suggest?

The rumors have all pointed to Sprint here in the U.S.

SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) = GSM only (Verizon is CDMA). If you keep your Verizon account, you'd need a second account (GSM service via ATT or T-Mobile) .
