Your bet on fastest shipping for auto parts?
#1
I was changing my oil yesterday and happened to notice my air intake hose was cracked. Awesome.

Toyota wants over $100 for the hose and it'd get here on Tuesday or Wednesday. I figure if I'm in that price range I might as well go for an aftermarket intake and filter(I also dislike all Toyota dealers). Injen as it would turn out is really the only company that makes one for my car.

There's some on eBay, and other places like AutoAnything.com. None offer expedited shipping(well, one eBay seller claims to for $65).

Thoughts?

Yes. Thousand mile an hour tape. It's an air intake hose. The aluminum stuff will work just fine. Unless you're in the car show arena, then you can justify it.

Hey... we're cheap folks around here.

Buy from a place near you - though they may ship from across the country (so ask first).

Check with O'Reillys or NAPA or such - they have a pretty wide set of stock in town here, though never at the store near me.

As per above - speed tape until you get the new part in. Duct tape will work in a pinch, but Home Depot and such carry the aluminum stuff in the duct section.

Good call on Hi-Temp tape. I'll drop by Home Depot.

I'll give NAPA a call - so far everyone else also wants a week to get parts in.

Most retail consumer auto parts stores (Advance, Checker, O'Reilly, NAPA, etc) in a given geographical area draw from the same warehouse(s). If the warehouse has it, you can have the part tomorrow morning. If not - they'll all quote you the same lead time because it's coming from the same place.
