Variable countdown stopwatch/timer for workouts?
#1
I have been taking a bootcamp class and this is the last week for my class. One thing that has been great is the instructor pushing us for 30-45 seconds, having a 30 second break, another 30-45 seconds, another 30 seconds break, etc.

What I am looking for and am not sure exactly how to describe, is a stopwatch or timer that counts down from a programmable time to zero that I can adjust (for doing pushups, jumping jacks, etc.) and then have another time (in between my sets). Ideally it would not be an "app" but a waterproof & rugged device (one that is rubber coated to take some abuse would be a plus), as I am going to be doing this outdoors when the weather gets better and throughout the summer.

I have a Casio watch with a countdown timer but I would prefer to not wear 2 watches, as I have a Polar heart rate monitor I wear while working out.

Any ideas?

you don't say if you have an iPhone. Chronolite (an app) has multiple timers than can run individually or concurrently. you might also look at ref watches/devices. my son's casio for reffing soccer had multiple timer capability.

I have an iPhone but really would prefer a stand-alone device, where if it were to get beaten up, I would not be as concerned.

I was googling around and found this:

I think that it will do it for me. In a few weeks, I will be doing my workouts outside and having this device will help with workouts (work hard/rest/work hard/rest) without having to look at my watch.

I may get the app anyway as it looks like a good tool otherwise.

I like that. I was thinking of something similar for inside my workout binder. I want to start the Men's Health Spartacus Workout, and that would time the intervals perfectly, without risking damage to the iPad!! In for 1!!!
