So I finally got into the groove with an iTouch
#1
First thing first, I tried to charge it ... FAILED! Wife's iPod's wall charger ain't compatible with this 8 Gig 3rd generation iTouch. That should indicate the amount of my knowledge on iTouch/iPod. So here are a few questions: where can I find a wall charger? A case? And do I need to subscribe to data service with ATT in order to use this iTouch? Tia. In the meanwhile I will read upon other elaborated info on this device Smile

You can buy a charger from any of the normal outlets. I paid less than $5 shipped for mine. Most times you can get a case at the same place.

You do not need AT&T for a touch. It works of wifi, any open signal (or one you know the password too) will operate the online functions.

Using which wall charger? A different one from the one that belonged to your wife's iPod?

Same one. I have been told not to use the USB plug comes with the device to hook up to a Windows machine (my work).

Is your wife's charger a firewire charger? Those don't work with the last couple/few revisions of iPods. You'll need a USB charger. Or, if you have a "charge only" cable (came with some third-party chargers), those won't work either on recent iPods.

One cool way to make that USB cable serve double duty is to get a generic USB wall charger, like the one in this kit, that also includes a car charger as well (both for less than $5, shipped):
