Going on a long trip - TV series suggestions

I am going on a long business trip (15 days in total) and will have plenty of down time at night and in the air to check out something I have not seen.

Is Breaking Bad worthwhile?

Well, considering that Bryan Cranston has won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for all 3 years it's been on, I'd say it's probably pretty worthwhile.

I enjoyed Dexter. And considering that I REALLY don't like Michael C. Hall, that's saying a lot. Justified is good too but there's not a lot of episodes so far. You could also do all 17 seasons of Top Gear. I watch those over and over and over.

Especially when I'm having work issues (late-paying clients, especially when they pay late and constantly bug me for more service), I like to watch Deadliest Catch, for a lot of reasons. Sometimes that "away from it all on the ocean" is really appealing. (Yeah, I know it's a killer job.)

I have a few TV series' complete collections that I play as background when I'm working from time to time, including M*A*S*H, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Honeymooners, The Young Ones, Newsradio. These are all episodic, I've seen them all before, they're good for a laugh and make good background video. (That is, I can have them on and enjoy them w/o really watching them, like listening to an old album I like.) (That's why stuff like "The Three Stooges" isn't in my list; I can't "not watch" the Stooges.)

I am a big fan of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica; the first couple of seasons especially were some first-rate drama. I know it ended on a confusing note but the series is not to be missed. Stuff like BSG -- like Breaking Bad and Dexter -- is attention video; something you want to watch and not miss when you're watching, which is what I think you're looking for.

Of the current television shows, Breaking Bad is one of the best. You won't be disappointed.

AMC has been putting out some outstanding original programing: The Killing, The Walking Dead & Mad Men are all superior to any other dramas being produced today.

Breaking Bad is good, Damages is good, Louie is good, Deadwood is good, The Wire is good, Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy...

Now that I don't actually "watch" TV, it seems we're in a new Golden Age.
Yeah, there's lots of horrible stuff -- most "Reality" shows, but there's way more good stuff on DVD and streaming than I have time for.

If you haven't already seen them, get Arrested Development. Of course, if you're looking for drama, that won't cut it.

I'm on a multi-month road trip. I loaded all 10 disks of "The Prisoner" (Patrick MacGohan) and am enjoying that. I've finished "Modern Family" and season one of "Rescue Me" and "Glee". All were enjoyable.

We just finished up the complete Sopranos series a few weeks ago. While I've seen the series once before, my Pop hadn't. It was great seeing it again, and I had to laugh at my very senior citizen Dad watching all the fun for the first time. :biggrin:

We're just starting season 3 of House. That's another good one, in my book.
