Amnesty International calls on Canada to arrest George W. Bush
#1
CBCnews

"It is incumbent upon Canadian officials to investigate, arrest and prosecute former president Bush for torture when he arrives in Canada a week tomorrow," said Alex Neve, Amnesty Canada's secretary general.

Something tells me it's not going to happen.

I Googled for the year they asked for the arrest of Fidel Castro. Nothing.

Freedom means you ARE free to bite the hand that feeds you. Or crap in your kitchen. I celebrate their ability to do that.

I don't agree with it, but hey...

Who is feeding who in whose kitchen?

Canada is a party to the Rome Statute. (Bush refused to let us enter into that treaty.)

It's a serious threat to Bush. Maybe less serious in Canada than elsewhere.

He canceled plans to visit Switzerland under a similar threat.

So all it takes to put a former US president in jail is a desk and a fax machine?

Maybe people want him arrested as more people, globally, HATE him more than Castro.

I doubt this will happen but it is important to remember how awful he was (and to keep the revisionists from saying otherwise).

Well, I guess it's a viable strategy to keep the in-laws away.

What an idiot you are. "Hating" is not grounds for arresting someone.

john- Yeah, sure. And our current President is still presiding over warfare in which any number of civilians are dying. Each of which he can ALSO be prosecuted for war crimes.

Just because a group wants to arrest someone you don't like, does NOT make it right.

Think about the overall ramifications before you agree with a concept.
