I was having some allergy issues and a twitching eye, yesterday...
#1
Had allergies all my life with no twitching eye, but I think they are related. Took a zyrtec, warm compress, and I feel better.

I am pet sitting for 2 cats. The owners place is a real mess, this time. Lots of cat hair, and litter dust everywhere. Cat poop on the floor. It seems they are using me to sit on long stays, but leaving the cats alone for weekends. When I arrived 3 litter boxes overflowing,

This is a tiny apartment, with no room for 3 litter boxes. It seems they did not scoop the litter even after the long weekend, so this was day 4. What is wrong with people? You don't want cats stepping in their old mess.

I completely dumped the large, dirtiest litter box, washed it out, and am not using it. People, you don't need 3 litter boxes for 2 cats, if you are checking it daily. Neither of the 2 boxes accumulate much in one day.

The cats seemed a little shell shocked on day 1, but seem much happier, now. I will be sitting for 7 more days. I guess I reached my cat dander/dust limit.

Thanks for the info, I did not feel like researching.

I have definitely had some left eye issues related to my sinus. When it inflames a certain amount, my vision seems impacted.

Some pet care specialists recommend the n+1 approach to litter boxes if there are territorial issues with multiple cats. That way there is always one unguarded box. Does not excuse the owners from cleaning them regularly though.

That they would leave the mess for the petsitter says a lot.

If you go again, I would work out hazardous duty pay . . . up front. Call it a bonus for "cleaning" the place to make it livable. I'd even risk letting them find someone else if they don't want to do this. They won't find anybody more than once.

You now know what you are getting into . . . it's up to you if you want it to improve.

Woah... yesh, that was definite abuse-the-pet sitter. A calm reminder would be appropriate when they return from their voyage. And perhaps a business card from a professional for-hire pet sitting service, because that's the LAST time you do that !

Have you ever tried Patanol eye drops? They do require a prescription but, Patanol (and the "once a day" variant they make) are the only eye drops that really provide relief when my eyes act up.
