Kate I needed your camera today ;-) Bandwidth Warning

We had the family over for a hot dog cookout and a hay ride. We figured everyone was turkey and hammed
out so decided to do hot dogs, side dishes and desserts. I think we had 29 of us including ourselves. The
kids had a blast picking up Hickory nuts almost the size of Fifty cent pieces. Anyway everyone was starting
to leave and my brother said to come down close to where he was standing and when I saw what it was
grabbed my Canon SX10 20x zoom. The fence kind messed me up on my focus. I took them full out
zoom. We have two hawks that used to hang around here all the time until our son passed away, this is
only about the second time we've this one since July, we saw it about 2 days after he passed away and
then they were gone. We saw both of them yesterday flying in an up draft and this one showed up today.

Cool/ How close to them were you?

I think about 80 ft. away. They have been known to sit and watch us. Strange thing is they showed up the
days following when my FIL died in '08.

I have never seen one on the ground like that, but they are watching for chipmunks here.
Every now and then they'll snag one but all I've ever seen was the hawk flying away with little feet dangling from it's feet. "Come back for more, try for squirrel next time! " :-)
