aaaahhhh sweet Jury Duty in Essex County NJ
#1
well maybe not, but at least there are new-ish jurist assembly waiting rooms, free coffee if you want it, free WiFi, and these big comfy chairs in the back room away from most of the other people.

now lets go convict some scum!

unless they of course aren't scum

but maybe they need convicting anyway

hmmmm....

if they offer too much coffee in the waiting areas, I hope they have adequate facilities near the courtrooms...

they do, I think, I don't drink coffee, but this coke I have may send me there.

turns out they have lockers to use too, only costs a quarter, but you get it back when you are finished.

Tell them to take it out of your "paycheck".

if only, if they didn't give you free parking here the daily pay wouldn't even get you out of the parking lot.

but hey, I'm not here for the pay, I'm here for JUSTICE!

and I'm going to lunch with one of the judges, and one of the county prosecutors.

another plus, there is no jury duty on Friday, so unless I'm on a jury at the end of the day, or the judge tells me to come back, I'm going golfing tomorrow.

when we have jury duty around these parts on Fridays, the judges generally don't hold afternoon sessions, so you go for the morning and you get the afternoon. technically, you were on jury duty that day, just not a whole day.

if you are self-employed in MA, you get a big fat goose egg for jury duty. otherwise, your employer is obligated to pay you for 3 days. at the end of three days, it's $50/day compensation. sometimes parking is free, but that's the exception.
