I am helping a friend whose Apple TV is not showing Netflix as even an option as being available. We updated to the latest software version, she can connect to the internet radio stations & YouTube so we know it is getting to the net, unplugged and plugged back in (several times), assigned a static IP then a DHCP address, yet no luck so far.
It was working without issues as recently as last week. It is more than 1 year old with no AppleCare so replacement is not an option. Otherwise it works ok, but no Netflix is a big deal as that is the way her son watches movies (they cut the cord from Comcast because of this device).
Anyone else experience a resolution for this issue?

I think Netflix only allows up to 5 streaming devices per account. Any chance she hit this limit?

The option for getting to Neflix does not even show up to choose. They only have 1 computer and she does not stream to that. I thought of that as well.

I'd unplug it for about 30 seconds and try again, or go see a Genius if resetting to factory firmware and updating again doesn't resolve it.

Many reports of this problem. Usually there are two suggestions, unplug the Apple TV and then plug it back in again (as you've already tried) or perform a restore.

I did not say that I unplugged it for 30 seconds, but we had it unplugged overnight and still no luck. I am going to bring her mine (which is working) and bring that one to an Apple store for diagnosis (even though it is out of warranty). If the "fix" is not too much $, I will just have them do it; otherwise I will buy a new one for me. She is on a tight budget and I can absorb the $100 for a new one (the maximum it would cost me for a new one), if needed. I would then have a spare remote as well.
