I have ordered these off Amazon for less money several times. No time to search right now but I would not assume that's a "best price."
(I have been happy with the purchases but have not actually made use of one yet-- gave the first one to a friend's kid where they have old weak iPods kicking around still in use.)

Signicant number of bad reviews on amazon, along with quite a few good ones.

Anyone know how this one charges? Specifically, can you have it connected in line with an iPhone and charge both it and the iPhone at the same time?

USB charger>backup battery>iPhone

or do you have to charge each separately?

Thanks.

You can stick one in an iPhone, and another in it, and another in that one, and the connecting cable in that one, and everything will charge.
Oddly though if you leave them that way not charging the whole mess will discharge down to nothing very quickly.

I don't want to log in to my Amazon account from work but I've poked around and I think the price of the one hal posted is about the same as what I've paid. I think it's a handy device for the $$ but there's no need to RYF.

The Stitchway is $6.14 with free 2-day shipping if you have Amazon Prime:
http://www.amazon.com/Stitchway-UltraPow...002T8GSC0/

and other sellers via Amazon have it for $6.00 or $6.01 with free shipping.

Another example of DM not doing their research?

I paid $13.64 for two of them with amazon prime free shipping awhile back. I use them with a 64gb iPod touch and a 32gb iPhone 4. I would say it is worth maybe half to 3/4 of a charge. Left alone it discharges fairly quickly so I leave them plugged in all of the time until needed. Having an extra power source is handy when you are dead in the water and have to run.

I also have the altoid tin charger which is much better but I think I paid around $40 for that and it is more bulky.

I've had one for quite a while & it works well, holds a charge for a reasonable length of time, but it & the iPod need to lay flat on a surface when it's plugged in.

I'm a huge fan of these, via Our Sponsor. Dirt-cheap (TWO DOLLARS at the moment) and eminently portable:
