Orofacial Myology

Anyone else have experience with this?

My younger son has had braces on his teeth for two years, and the orthodontist noticed this problem about 4 months ago.

The therapy is $900 and not covered by our insurance.

My son says it is working and he can tell a major difference. I sure hope so. He also likes the therapist a lot. She's 26 and very cute.

The point is to correct the problem so that the teeth don't move again after the braces come off.

I'd never heard of this before and when I mention it to others it seems that no one else has either...so, just curious.

Sounds like hooey to me. Just get permanent retainers installed and let it go.

Or do I have to find my own 26 year old therapist?

It's also called tongue thrust therapy. Write your own jokes.

Grace,

Here is a link about it:

You absolutely should get a second and, if necessary, third opinion.

Does your son have a regular dentist? Contact him/her first and go from there.

I know what it is, and I got the opinions. That's why we're half way through the therapy.
My question is if anyone else has personal experience with this.

Grace,

That wasn't clear to me in your post. Hopefully, those who've had it or have a member of the family dealing with it can offer their guidance.
