Tennessee Saggy Pants Bill Now Law

It's the law now in Tennessee. I will withhold my comments about my crack legislature and other bills they are in a rush to pass.

I have no problem with having dress codes at schools, but the previous bill that would have fined them was silly. Just send the kid home and tell them not to come back until they're properly dressed. Kids should dress professionally for school. Real world training and all that...

There is a subset of people who wear their pants very low who also may attempt to run from the police on occasion, and in such an instance they should not bother pulling their pants up as this will greatly aid in said individuals' timely apprehension.

Heard that from a friend who is a firefighter... called in to administer first aid to a suspect who was lying face down , hands zip tied behind his back, pants down around his ankles.

And the arresting officer was laughing, saying "You know, son.. you're pretty fast. I'm kind of old. There's now WAY I could have caught you if your pants hadn't fallen down !!"

Don't send them home. Many of them want that option. Make them pull them up then and there. If they won't stay up, give them duct tape. Punish them at school.

Out of school punishment should be limited to those that endanger themselves or others.

I work in the local school system and agree about the saggy pants. District has dress code and school uniforms. However if that what it takes then so be it.

I agree. Punishment is time off from school? ARE YOU SERIOUS?
