I guess I've been with Comcast a year; my bill went from $30 to $55 a while back, and just went up to $72. Been in contact with them several hours, mult attempts, but no budge on the reinstitution of any sort of promotion.
Anyone have recent success getting a promotion of any sort reinstated?

Several tries over the last few months. Not willing to deal. Only want to bundle me up to the Triple Play or add HBO. I keep telling them I want to lower my bill.

You need to speak to a "loyalty" rep and beware that most of the time they'll just transfer you to regular salespeople when you ask for a loyalty rep... and those salespeople will lie through their f-ing teeth to you about how there are no deals available (but they have a great bundle to sell you for 6 months...)
So, when they transfer your call, the first thing that you should do is ask for them to give you a new promo and if they say that they have no promos then ask what they can do for you to keep your business and if they then offer you a package instead of a discount then hang up and try calling again because you're not really speaking to a loyalty rep.
The loyalty department is currently inhabited by a bunch of severely bent people because they're supposed o be able to cut deals, but they've been hamstrung and that point is drummed home to them every few minutes by disgruntled customers. They are not permitted to cut deals at all and there are no promos they can offer that the regular salespeople can't offer... EXCEPT that they are empowered to take $10-$15 off per month (for a year) if you take more than 10 minutes of their time because their time is worth company money.
So be prepared to argue about the competing rates of every ISP for 50 miles around because you've got time to fill.
Ain't monopolies grand?!

Cancel the "service" for a month or three. Then they'll come after you. Only re-up if they can guarantee the intro rate for two years. Be prepared to hang up. Make them work to get you back.

It might not be fast but I show AT&T DSL internet at $14.95/month in a Chicago zip code.

Get a modem off CL for $25. Are you limited to 1.5M because of your distance?
